Research into film posters.

Film posters.

Jaws is an iconic film and was originally released in 1975. The poster's imagery looks illustrated which can reflect the timeframe as digital programs wouldn't have been available. The red font connotes danger as well as drawing attention to the title of the film. With the title grabbing our immediate eye the woman underneath then catches it and it shows us that she's in danger. The poster features the actors names and copyright information. The poster contains the shark that is also within the film giving the audience a taster.

Olympus has fallen was released in 2013 and features a strong use of computer generated graphics and photo editing techniques. The poster shows the 3 leading members of the cast as well as a small part of the setting, The White House and a faded part of the American flag connoting that it's in America. The main font is distressed which connotes violence and destruction. The poster also features the director of the film through saying what other films he's directed. The poster features the film release date to inform the audience when it's out. The use of explosions and helicopters connotes that there may be a military presence within the film.
E.T was released in 1982 and was directed by Steven Spielberg. The film was hugely successful. The poster features a moderate use of computer graphics and uses the colour blue predominantly, the colour blue has connotations of space and mystery. The text is white which has connotations of innocence. The poster is very minimal which adds to the overtone of mystery and discovery. On the poster the actors names are present which could draw in an audience who likes those particular actors.
