Viral advert ideas

Viral advert ideas

When researching viral adverts I came across the website Branded 3. This site showed me some of the top viral marketing campaigns of all time. When looking through these adverts I could see a general theme of emotion running through the adverts. This suggests that using strong emotions such as humor has the best outcomes. Emotion is a factor that drives people to share the content they see on social media, whether thats humor, anger or anxiety.  As our film is a domestic comedy I believe a funny viral advert will work well for us as it will link in with the theme of the film.

One idea I had was involving the audience with the advertising process. We could use social media such as Twitter and Facebook to ask viewers for ideas involving what they use post-it notes for or what they want from a post-it note, for example them to be bigger, different colours, in a particular shape etc.

Another idea I had was creating different characters using the post-it notes and use them to promote the film. With this idea we could create characters from our film though this usually works well for films with well known characters such as the Marvel characters.

I also had the idea of getting the audience to create a short story on a pad of post-it notes. This would share ideas for short films like ours for other film makers and for people doing media projects similar to ours. This gives people a starting point as to what they could create a short film about.
